Queridos y queridas jóvenes de 3º y 4º, espero que estén muy bien y aunque la cuarentena no nos deje salir, igual usaremos este día para hacer nuevos amigos...
De la tarea anterior en donde eligieron un país de habla inglesa que les llama la atención, ahora crearemos un diálogo “imaginario” con un habitante de dicho país.
Para hacerlo aún más dinámico, les sugiero poner 2 cojines en el suelo, uno de ellos los representa a cada uno de ustedes y el otro representa a este futuro/a amigo o amiga imaginario/a de habla inglesa. Una buena técnica para conocer nuevos amigos en cuarentena!!
Les doy un ejemplo de una posible conversación: yo sere Pía de Chile y empezaré a conocer a Mike de Irlanda.

P: Hi, do you need anything ? What is your name ?
M: Hi, I am OK, thanks. My name is Mike, and yours?
P: I am Pia and I live here in Chile. Where are you from?
M: I am from Ireland.
P: That is very far away; what are you doing here ?
M. I came here because I always wanted to know South America, and I heard that Chile has the most beautiful landscapes.
P. Yes, it is true. This is a beautiful country, especially in the south around Patagonia. But I also heard that Ireland is very pretty, isn’t it?
M: Oh yes, we have a part of the island where flowers grow through the stones, and the cliffs around the coast are amazing. However, it does rain quite a lot.
P: I would love to go to Ireland one day. What is the national dance? I heard that is very funny
M: The dance is called Irish stepdance, and more than funny, it is hard work. There is also the group dance called Ceilidh, which has its roots in our Celtic heritage.
P: Can you dance, Mike ?
M: Oh no, there’s no way I can move myself to rhythm.
P: Then, what do you do to enjoy yourself?
M: I play hurling
P: What is that?
M: It is a team game that has been played for 4,000 years. It is similar to Gaelic football, but the ball is small, there are 15 players in each side and it is super fun.
P: Here in Chile, the indigenous mapuches play an old sport called Palin, similar to hockey but bare foot, with a stick and a stone. So Mike, what can you tell me about Irish history ?
M: Well, you know that the Celts arrived in Ireland in 1600 BC (before Christ). In the middle ages, St Patrick arrived, and the whole of Ireland became Catholic. The Vikings were always a problem in Ireland until the end of the first millennium, and after that in the XVI century, England started to make wars with us. So, until 1922 Ireland was a colony of England. Part of our island is still a part of Britain. The true Ireland is the south part of the island - the republic.
P: There are always countries trying to colonize others. We took a piece of Peru and another piece of Bolivia, and we left them without access to the sea.
M: And lots of people died in all those wars, I imagine !
P: Yes, very sad. But it seems that we as human beings we cannot live without some kind of a problem. This is why I try to look at the bright side of life.
M: Yes me too. You are very friendly, Pia. Thank you for talking to me. Being in another country when you don’t speak the language is very difficult, so thank you for giving me this chance to speak English.
P: A pleasure! How long are you planning to be in Chile for?
M: I will be here for another 3 weeks and then I will go to Argentina.
P: It has been nice to talk to you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and if you need anything just call me.
M: Thank you so much, I didn’t know anybody here before, and I can say now that I really like Chilean people!
P: Bye Mike, I have to go now, but you have my number in case you need anything.
M: Bye Pia, very nice to meet you!!
La conversación tiene que tener preguntas para comenzar a conocerse, preguntas del país, preguntas abiertas, es decir que la respuesta no pueda ser si o no simplemente, si no que el personaje tenga que explayarse. Algunas pocas preguntas cerradas, pero los invito a inventar, a dejar fluir la imaginación. Y al final tiene que tener un cierre, una despedida. Pueden contar de sí mismos, cómo lo están pasando y preguntar también cosas personales al amigo/a. Todo va en la calidad del diálogo.
El diálogo ha de ser escrito y de al menos una página para los más avanzados y de un poco menos para los grupos 2 y 3. Traten de hacerlo en Inglés, traten de que sea coloquial, como realmente hablarían con alguien de otro país. Pregunten lo que les gustaría saber y lo que preguntarían en la vida real al encontrarse con un turista. Es una práctica para la vida !
